MACPO’s 53rd annual spring conference
May 26th and May 27th, 2010

MACPO’s 53rd Annual Spring Conference was held at Breezy Point Resort near Brainerd, MN. Training tracks included: Sex Offender Registration Update and New BCA Programs; Responding Effectively to Offenders with Mental Illnesses; Three Pathways to the Criminal Mind; Generation X, Supervising Baby Boomers; Diversity 101: A New Paradigm; and Dealing with Violations in the 21st Century. The two day conference was well attended by probation officers and there were many vendors that took part. Thanks to the Training and Education Committee for putting together an outstanding conference.

The "Option 60" sub-committee of the MACPO Legislative Committee looked into an early retirement option for probation officers funded by increased employee contributions to PERA. PERA conducted an actuarial study in 2008, and the findings are in PDF format. Here is an informational newsletter explaining how it works in PDF format.
