Executive Committee Goals
Review the vision statement on an annual basis
at the steering committee meeting
Use MACPO’s APPA Affiliate Membership to send
our President (or assigned representative) to the national conference to
maintain/promote our presence on a national level, to be reviewed
annually
Continue to solicit input from MACPO membership
regarding nominations for awards: Al Reker, Excellence in Corrections,
Outstanding Performance, and Memorial Scholarship, as well as
officer-elect positions
Set out and meet a realistic operating fund
balance for MACPO
Keep officer and committee chair handbooks up to
date
Monitor legislative task forces and promote
MACPO membership on these committees
Recruit MACPO members to serve on MACPO
committees
Continue to monitor bond fund and use interest
for the memorial scholarship award
Continue joint efforts with MCA to provide a
joint winter conference to be reviewed annually
Continue to offer a Support Staff Training and
determine the future responsibility of coordinating training
The MACPO Legislative Committee assigned an "Option 60" sub-committee
to look into an early retirement option for probation officers and corrections agents
funded by increased employee contributions to PERA.
PERA conducted an actuarial study in 2008, and the findings were presented
to MACPO on April 20th, 2009. Here are the results of the study in PDF format. Also, an informational newsletter was put together in October 2009, explaining the Early Retirement Option and how it works in PDF format.
