Dear MACPO Members and Associates,

What is the role of state-wide organizations, such as MACPO, in these times of dwindling budgets that may require reductions in funding for training? One needs to only examine MACPO’s Mission Statement:

The Minnesota Association of County Probation Officers is dedicated to promoting quality correctional practices through professional growth, leadership, education, communication and support.

The Vision of MACPO shares everyone’s lofty goals of providing a voice for the probation profession and leading the promotion of sound correctional policy. The Vision voices the organization’s commitment to evidence-based practices, restorative justice, community involvement, public protection, offender accountability and competency development.

The Mission and Vision of MACPO are shared by every CPO-county and provide a collective voice for the furtherance of our profession that may not be heard otherwise on a county-to-county basis. County probation offices provide many outstanding services utilizing our commitment to evidenced-based practices, restorative justice, etc., but we need our collective organization to fulfill our Mission and to further the advancement of the probation profession. Please help MACPO in achieving our Mission through your support and share your talents and ideas for the betterment of the organization.

For more information about MACPO, please visit our Web site, or contact one of our officers or representatives.

Respectfully,
Steve Peterson
MACPO President
Court Services Director,
Waseca County Court Services (Waseca County, MN)
