2008-2009 MAPCO President
Steve King
Director of Mower County Corrections

Welcome to the MACPO website

As I begin my term as your MACPO president, I’d like to thank all those who serve in the corrections field throughout Minnesota. In our profession, our efforts cannot always be measured on a daily basis. It’s for this reason that I find myself often times envying those who mow lawns for a living. At the end of the day, these folks can see the accomplishments of their efforts. For those of us who chose corrections as a profession we might not realize that same sense of accomplishment. If we do I assure you it does not come daily. However, when we are successful, that success comes at such a level that it often cannot be fully comprehended. Our successes mean life is more manageable for our offenders. It means healthier, more stable families. It means more productive citizens. It means a safer community. Although corrections professional’s successes might not come along as readily as a lawn care specialist, our success is far more significant in the eyes of most.

My vision for MACPO is for our organization to be significant in our success as well. I’d like to not just be the place members turn to for training. I’d like to be the place where members want to get involved in directing what training gets delivered. MACPO is a member centered organization. In order to maintain and grow MACPO, I wish to not only foster growth in membership, but grow it with members who are willing to get involved on the various committees that serve MACPO. I believe the by product will be success in building greater ownership and camaraderie throughout MACPO. I welcome any and all who wish to become members and challenge those new members, as well as the seasoned MACPO veterans, to engage or reengage in this fine organization.

Thank you for using MACPO’s website, please feel free to contact me at stevek@co.mower.mn.us or 507-437-9453.

Take care.
Steve King, MACPO President
