Annual Academic Memorial Scholarship

The Minnesota Association of County Probation Officers strives to promote and to attract quality students to consider Corrections as a career. In preparing a student for professional level practice, MACPO is offering a $750 scholarship to be used toward a Corrections related degree and/or internship. MACPO, by awarding this scholarship, will do so in the spirit of honoring deceased MACPO members who have made a significant contribution not only to MACPO, but to the corrections field as well.

One $750 scholarship awarded to a student majoring in Corrections, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Social Work, or other related fields who will be/or is involved in an internship. This scholarship will be applied to the costs of tuition.

Who Can Apply?
Students majoring in criminal justice or related field.

Students enrolled in a Criminal Justice program or related field at an accredited 2-year or 4-year college or university.

Only undergraduate students are eligible.

Students preparing for internships in the corrections field.



In order to apply, candidates must submit a packet that includes:

1. Application

2. One letter of reference from a faculty member or one letter of reference from an internship supervisor/director.

3. Document that answers questions from the application.

Minnesota County Probation System 2010 Evidence Based Practices and Supervision Fee Survey


The MACPO Legislative Committee assigned an "Option 60" sub-committee to look into an early retirement option for probation officers and corrections agents funded by increased employee contributions to PERA.

PERA conducted an actuarial study in 2008, and the findings were presented to MACPO on April 20th, 2009. Here are the results of the study in PDF format. Also, an informational newsletter was put together in October 2009, explaining the Early Retirement Option and how it works in PDF format.
